Tricky Tipster: NHRA Potomac Nationals presented by JEGS
The 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series will visit the second of four new venues this weekend as Maryland International Raceway is set to host the NHRA Potomac Nationals presented by JEGS, the seventh of 20 events scheduled this season.
This week, the PlayNHRA favorites include Shawn Langdon in Top Fuel, Ron Capps and Matt Hagan in Funny Car, Dallas Glenn in Pro Stock, along with Gaige Herrera in Pro Stock Motorcycle. The event will be part of the PlayNHRA initiative, where drag racing fans will once again have the opportunity to engage in fantasy games, gaming, and betting for this event. Betting markets feature Professional classes, where fans can wager on event winners, low elapsed time of the event, head-to-head matchups, and season champions.
Below are the opening odds as provided by Alt Sports Data.
(Note: In American sports betting, odds are typically expressed with a plus (+) or minus (–) symbol followed by a number. For example, +200 signifies the amount a bettor could win if wagering $100. If the bet works out, the player will receive a total payout of $300; $200 profit + $100 initial stake.)
TOP FUEL

Shawn Langdon is off to an incredibly hot start this season with three wins in four final rounds in just six events. He’s the points leader, and his coming off a big win at Route 66 Raceway in Chicago, so naturally, he’s the favorite. Langdon opens at +550, meaning a $10 wager would return $65.00 should he win the event.
Langdon’s teammate, Doug Kalitta, is just a fraction behind at +600, odds shared by 2025 regular season champ Tony Stewart, and Shawn Reed.
Justin Ashley comes in at +800, while Josh Hart and Maddi Gordon are +900, and the logjam at the top also includes Leah Pruett at +1000, and Chicago finalist Antron Brown and Clay Millican at +1100.
Billy Torrence leads the long shot group at +1200, followed by Spencer Massey at +1400. Will Smith, coming off one of the best outings of his brief career, is +1800, while eight-time world champion Tony Schumacher is a bit surprising at +2500.

Lex Joon | +5000 | $500.00 | $510.00 |
FUNNY CAR

No big surprise here as the Funny Car field is wide open with the top six drivers in the class priced at 10-1 or shorter. The field is led by Matt Hagan and Ron Capps, who have each visited the winner’s circle this season. The two former champs are each priced at +600 as the tour heads to another new venue, where teams will have limited data.
Chad Green, winner of the Gainesville and Chicago events, has gotten a boost and is now +700 should his Bond Coat Ford visit the winner’s circle again.
After the leaders, Jordan Vandergriff, J.R. Todd, and a resurgent Austin Prock at +800. Prock is coming off his best finish of the season with a semifinal at Route 66 Raceway.
Further down the order, it gets interesting with Chicago runner-up Alexis DeJoria at +1400, with Daniel Wilkerson and Del Worsham bot a shade more favored at +1200. Worsham has not raced in many NHRA events lately, but merits a lot of respect as a former champion and capable tuner/driver.
Paul Lee and Cruz Pedregon, who each won events last season, are also among the long shots at +1600 and +2200, respectively.

Although it was Aaron Stanfield who won in Chicago, Dallas Glenn and Greg Anderson remain big favorites with the Budds Creek oddsmakers. The KB Titan teammates, who have combined for seven world titles, are once again listed as big favorites with Glenn at +300 and Anderson close behind at +350. Glenn and Anderson have each won a race this season, and they are currently first and second in the NHRA Mission Foods standings.

PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE

There is a nice three-way battle brewing at the top of the Pro Stock Motorcycle class with world champs Gaige Herrera, Matt Smith, and Richard Gadson each taking the role of favorite for this week’s event. First off, it's important to note that Maryland Int’l Raceway has a long history of motorcycle racing, so there should be a lot of attention on NHRA’s two-wheel stars this weekend. It’s worth noting that Angie Smith had the quickest bike in Chicago, and she’s priced at an attractive +900, while teammate John Hall is +1100 and Chase Van Sant is +1500.
