The race for the 2023 FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Type A Motorsports world championship took an unexpected turn — right into the guardwall — at the NHRA Nevada Nationals when points leader Kris Thorne crashed heavily in qualifying. Thorne was not hurt, but the incident allowed Mike Castellana to win the championship.
