Jonathan Allegrucci completed a season defined by speed, consistency and resilience by winning the Flexjet NHRA Factory Stock Showdown world championship Sunday at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Allegrucci secured the title in the most convincing way possible, winning the NAPA Auto Parts NHRA Midwest Nationals to close out an outstanding 2026 campaign and become the first driver to claim a championship during NHRA’s diamond 75th anniversary season.

The potential was evident from the opening event in Gainesville, where Allegrucci qualified No. 1 before making an earlier-than-expected departure in the second round. Rather than allowing that loss to define the start of his season, Allegrucci and his team quickly turned their qualifying speed into round wins.

His breakthrough came at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte, where he earned his first victory of the season. Allegrucci followed that performance with wins in Chicago and Bristol, establishing himself as the championship favorite as the season moved into its decisive stages.

Back-to-back runner-up finishes in Norwalk and at the prestigious Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis added valuable points and kept Allegrucci firmly in control of the title race.

The season was not without adversity. An uncharacteristic first-round loss at the Dodge NHRA Great Lakes Nationals in Martin, Mich., briefly delayed his opportunity to secure the championship and placed added importance on the finale in St. Louis.

Allegrucci responded exactly as a champion should.

He worked his way through eliminations at World Wide Technology Raceway and finished the season with another victory, clinching the Flexjet NHRA Factory Stock Showdown championship from the winner’s circle.

The St. Louis triumph gave Allegrucci three victories and two runner-up finishes during a season in which he combined strong qualifying performances with the consistency required to win a national championship. With the title secured, Allegrucci also became the first recipient of NHRA’s special diamond 75th anniversary championship, adding another historic distinction to a memorable season.
