Friday at Brainerd International Raceway delivered the range of NHRA drag racing, from the precision and perseverance of Sportsman competitors to the thunder of Top Fuel under Minnesota’s summer sky.

National Dragster photographers Jerry Foss and Michael Allio moved through the heart of the event to capture it all. Their images take us inside the staging lanes, where crews make final adjustments and drivers prepare for the next run, then track the action as horsepower takes command.

Beyond the starting line, the Brainerd experience stretches into the packed grandstands, busy Sportsman pits and legendary campground known simply as “the Zoo.” It is a place where competition and celebration live side by side.

This Friday gallery presents Brainerd through two distinct lenses: the speed, precision and intensity on the racetrack, balanced by the color, character and community that make this event one of the most distinctive stops on the NHRA tour.
