Hundreds of NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competitors stopped in for camaraderie, snacks, ice cream, and a beverage leading up to the Division 2 “Baby Gators” event at Gainesville Raceway.

Hosted by NHRA announcer Joe Castello, the NHRA Sportsman Appreciation event, presented by Laris Motorsports Insurance and Right Trailers, took place in the track’s Top Eliminator Club Wednesday night, Feb. 26. Racers enjoyed snacks that included Mission chips and salsa, beverages courtesy of Laris, and frozen treats from an ice cream truck provided by Right Trailers.

NHRA’s Ned Walliser, Lonnie Grim, and Cody Savage were among those in attendance to show their appreciation.

“This event was a great start towards building a foundation at the Baby Gators, celebrating our sportsman racers as the season gets underway,” said Jason Galvin, NHRA Sportsman Racing Manager. “The input and support from companies like Right Trailers and Laris Motorsports Insurance ensured we could deliver a place to take a break and catch up with friends during the test session, and we look forward to working with our partners to build on this event in 2026 while celebrating the NHRA’s 75th anniversary.”
