Nine champions were crowned in NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competition at the Menards NHRA Nationals presented by PetArmor at Heartland Motorsports Park, including Mike Cotten, who scored in Stock.

Hunter Green, son of Funny Car and Pro Mod racer Chad Green, joined his father as a national event champion after claiming his first career Top Alcohol Dragster win in Topeka, defeating Shane Conway in the final, 5.19 to 5.28. [video]

Reigning Top Alcohol Funny Car world champ Doug Gordon continues to make the most of his final season as the soon-to-retire points-leading driver of the Beta Motorcycles Camaro scored his fourth win of the season and 24th of his career after taking down Ulf Leanders in the final. 5.53 to 5.56. [video]

Clark Smiley went wire-to-wire in Comp, racing his way to victory from the No. 1 qualifying sport in his supercharged BB/A GXP. Smiley, runner-up at this event in 2014, scored his third career title and the first outside of his home state of Texas when he defeated defending event champ Doug Engels to (-.55) 7.27 to (-.48) 7.42. [video]

Reigning Stock world champ Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. won his tenth national event title in Topeka when he stopped two-time Denver champ Ryan Montford in the Super Stock final. Hidalgo put together a solid package with a .014 light and a 9.803 on his 9.79 dial. [video]

Nearly 32 years after winning his first NHRA national event Wally, Mike Cotten scored again when he stopped a red-lighting Parker Devore in the Stock final. Cotten now has four wins to his credit. [video]

Nearly 30 years after collecting his first career win in Super Comp in Topeka in 1994, Mark Grame was back in the Heartland Motorsports Park winner’s circle after winning an all-Kansas, double-breakout final-round bout with four-time Topeka winner Matt Driskell, 8.893 to 8.887. [video]

Rodger Sauder picked up his second career Wally after a double-breakout final-round Super Gas battle with Austin Williams, 9.898 to 9.884. Sauder, whose first career win came in Super Street in Chicago in 2019, denied seven-time Topeka winner Williams his 20th career win. [video]

Past world champ Darian Boesch vaulted into the Top 10 in Right Trailers Top Sportsman after taking a final-round win over fellow champ Jimmy Lewis, who broke out by three-hundredths in the final. [video]

Following a sweep of the JEGS SPORTSnationals and the Division 3 Lucas Oil Series event in Columbus, Blake Peavler stayed red hot with another win in Topeka. Peavler won the final of Right Trailers Top Dragster after Holden Laris red-lighted and is now a leading contender for the championship. [video]
