Five champions were crowned in NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competition at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, led by Jeff Strickland, who scored his 21st career win in Stock.

Monte Bogan’s odds of winning the 2023 Super Stock championship went up considerably after he bagged his third win of the season in Bristol. Bogan used a nearly perfect .002 reaction time and a 9.240 on his 9.22 dial to stop Dan Fletcher in the final. [video]

Jeff Strickland earned career win No. 21 following a tough final-round battle against reigning world champ Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. in Stock. Strickland won in a double-breakout with a 9.279 on his 9.30 dial. [video]

2019 Super Gas world champ Jeremy Mason captured his sixth career win — split equally between Super Comp and Super Gas — when he stopped Super Comp honors in Bristol, capping his raceday with a near dead-heat victory against Michael Holcombe, winning the race on a holeshot by the razor-thin margin of just .0006-second. Mason is now 6-1 career lifetime in national event finals. [video]

For the second time in three years, Jacob Elrod walked out of Bristol Dragway as the Super Gas winner after stopping the always-tough John Labbous Jr. in the final. After a pair of clutch .003 lights, Elrod, who also won the event in 2021, captured career win No. 4 after Labbous slowed on his final-round pass. [video]

Matt Sackman joined his brother, Zach, as a national event winner in the Right Trailers Top Dragster class after wheeling the family’s Hangsterfer’s dragster to a win over Al Miller in the final. Sackman left first and posted a 6.187 against his 6.17 dial. [video]
