Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Kelly Clontz and her husband Chris, who now have four seasons of experience in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, will continue their partnership with Steamfitters Local #602 for the 2022 season. The ongoing partnership will allow Clontz to compete in all 15 scheduled Pro Stock Motorcycle events this season.

“We are thrilled to partner with Steamfitters UA Local #602 for the fifth consecutive season,” said Clontz. “We take pride in educating fans on what exactly is a Steamfitter as well as encouraging potential customers and contractors to hire their members and mechanical contractors associated with the Mechanical Contractors Association of Metropolitan Washington for new work opportunities.”

With 15 strategically placed 2022 national events for NHRA’s premier two-wheel class, Clontz, of Hughesville, Md., will be able to bring new eyes to Steamfitters UA Local #602 and the Mechanical Contractors Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C.

“We are racing at different racetracks than previous years, and that allow us to reach a broader audience and create awareness for the union and its affiliates in regions we haven’t been able to in the past,” Crew Chief Chris Clontz added. “Our main objective is to educate race fans on the union and the career opportunities that it provides. I have been an active member of the Steamfitters UA Local #602 union for 26 years and take pride in representing such a great organization.”

The Steamfitters UA Local #602 includes more than 5,000 journeymen, apprentices, and helpers, who work in the Heating, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Process Piping Industry throughout Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area. Their members are the best trained and most qualified workers in the industry.

"Unions are formed when workers come together to have a collective voice, to take collective action, to work together for one common goal, to help each other have a better life, much like a family, much like one big team,” says Steamfitters UA Local #602 Business Manager Chris Madello. “That’s who we are, that’s what we represent, and we feel that the Kelly Clontz Racing team, the Kelly Clontz Racing Family is a perfect example of those things, a perfect example of our values.”
