Firebird Ignitor

The oldest major drag racing event in the Pacific Northwest, the NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor Opener presented by Peterson Chevrolet, returns to Firebird Raceway on May 1-2 as part of the 2021 NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series.

Firebird’s granddaddy event originated in 1971, and will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. The inaugural winner of the Ignitor in 1971 was Don “the Snake” Prudhomme with his Hot Wheels Funny Car.
The Ignitor will mark the opening stop in the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series in the Stinker Stores Nitro Knockout for the AA/Funny Car class.

In addition to the Nitro Funny Car eight-car qualified field, the race will also boast the richest bracket tournament in Ignitor history. Gold Cup categories include: Super Pro, Pro, Sled/Bike and Sportsman.
Funny Car qualifying is set for noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday followed by Nitro finals at high noon on Sunday.

Firebird is located 5 miles north of Hwy 44 on Hwy 16 about ten minutes northwest of Eagle, Idaho. Capture tickets online today at: www.firebirdonline.com.
