With restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many graduating high-school seniors are not going out with the traditional pomp and circumstance of a graduation ceremony, but thanks to the generosity of Brainerd International Raceway, Brainerd High School students will get to celebrate with a car parade to honor the class of 2020. Graduating seniors will also be recognized through a virtual commencement after the parade.

The car parade, organized by a group of community members, will be held at the track, home of the annual NHRA Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals, on Friday, May 22, for graduates and their immediate family members and will be conducted within COVID-19 compliance rules.

The parade is optional for graduates, and Brainerd High School has set up a GoFundMe page to fund the celebration. All money raised beyond the amount needed to cover expenses will be donated to GradBlast2020.

The graduates will wear the traditional cap and gown and their names will be clearly displayed on the driver’s side door or roof of the vehicle for the parade as fellow students and family members cheer them on.
