The national consumer education and advocacy campaign Your Car. Your Data. Your Choice. returns as co-primary sponsor with Parts Plus on the Clay Millican-driven Straightline Strategy Group Top Fuel dragster for the upcoming Dodge NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil in Las Vegas, Oct. 31–Nov. 3.

Millican first partnered with the Your Car. Your Data. campaign in June at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tenn. Since then, he has stayed busy representing the advocacy campaign, most recently during a trip to Washington, D.C., where he, along with other drivers, voiced support for car owners’ and drivers’ right to access and control their car data. Following his visit, Millican wrote a guest column, “Car Data Not Just For Pro Racers” that was published in Automotive News on Oct. 21.

It’s a simple principle, said Millican: “If you own your car, you should own every part of it – including the data it collects.”

“It’s an honor to have Your Car. Your Data. back with us as their initiative aligns perfectly with Parts Plus network members on an important issue the public needs to understand,” continued Millican. “With Your Car. Your Data. and Parts Plus on board, it’s our plan to get into the final round and move up in the point standings.”

Following the Las Vegas event, the Your Car. Your Data. Parts Plus dragster will display at AAPEX — the automotive aftermarket’s largest trade show — Nov. 5 – 7 at the Sands Expo Convention Center. Millican will sign autographs at select times throughout the show and speak on a panel discussion regarding the connected car and car data.

Your Car. Your Data. is working to ensure car owners and drivers are empowered to take control of the data their cars collect. Providing drivers with control of their car data ensures their right to choose the price, place and person they want to provide repair and maintenance services.
