Steven Densham, the son of NHRA Funny Car veteran Gary Densham and a past NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series Nostalgia Funny Car champion, will make his “big show” debut at the Dodge NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Steven will be driving his dad’s car, which has run in the three-second range on numerous occasions, as he attempts to qualify for the 16-car field. Steven earned his Funny Car license last fall in Las Vegas under the tutelage of his father.

Steven, like his retired shop teacher father, is also a teacher, instructing at Vista High School in San Diego County, Calif.

“He’s amazing,” Steven said. “My dad’s been racing for so many years, and stuff that I’ve seen him catch as far as when the car tries to get out of shape amazes me. And I still feel like I’m way behind, but he’s able to kind of help you out, and coach you. He’s coached Robert Hight and a lot of other people. So having him behind me definitely helps 100%.”

The Denshams will race at the event with support from Bob Button at Button Transport, Charlie Abdush at Midwest Factory Finishes, and Chris Johnson at Far West Freighters.
