Construction continues at Gainesville Raceway ahead of this year’s blockbuster 50th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals with the pouring of concrete that will provide what historically has been one of the best racetracks in the country with an all-concrete racing surface that will only enhance its reputation. New asphalt will also be installed beyond the finish line.

The Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, March 14-17, is the traditional East Coast opener for the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series and a must-see event. To celebrate the 50th year of this iconic event, NHRA’s most beloved figures from the early days of drag racing are coming together for the completion of the NHRA Legends Tour and one colossal blowout. Never before have so many NHRA legends been gathered in one place. Among the drivers expected to attend are “Big Daddy” Don Garlits, Shirley Muldowney, Kenny Bernstein, Joe Amato, Ed “The Ace” McCulloch, “The Bounty Hunter” Connie Kalitta, and “Big” Jim Dunn.

During the course of the busy weekend, champions will be crowned including those in the 10,000-horsepower, nitro-fueled Top Fuel dragster and Funny Car classes, along with the 200-mph Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle categories.
