Social activities provide fan entertainment at Toyota NHRA Sonoma Nationals

There’s a whole lot more than racing going on at the Toyota NHRA Sonoma Nationals. From pit-area displays and exhibits to a Cacklefest and the Eric Medlen ice Cream Social, there’s plenty for Sonoma fans to enjoy.

There’s a whole lot more than racing going on at the Toyota NHRA Sonoma Nationals. From pit-area displays and exhibits to a Cacklefest and the Eric Medlen ice Cream Social, there’s plenty for Sonoma fans to enjoy.

FRIDAY 
Track Talk: 3 p.m. 

Head to Sunoco Victory Lane on Friday at 3 p.m. for a Q&A session with J.R. Todd, Tanner Gray, and more!

First-Round Follow-Up 
Meet NHRA announcer Brian Lohnes in the pits after first round to get the scoop on the hottest story from the first round of qualifying.

Watch high school teens drag race against law enforcement officers, who compete in full uniform in their official vehicles as part of a Top the Cops demonstration. The Top the Cops program gives teens the rare chance to drag race area law enforcement officers on the Sonoma Raceway dragstrip as part of the raceway’s weekly Wednesday Night Drags program.

Nostalgia Cacklefest 
For the third consecutive year, a collection of nostalgia Top Fuel dragsters will light up the sky on Friday evening as they fire up their engines in front of the main grandstand for a can’t miss demonstration.

Jet Dragsters 
Witness these fire-breathing machines from Muy Caliente Racing reach speeds of more than 300 mph as they launch down the dragstrip in an illuminating display for the last pass of the day on Friday night!

SATURDAY 
Bike-Battle.pngMickey Thompson Tires Pro Bike Battle 
The Mickey Thompson Tires Pro Bike Battle returns as a race-within-a-race on Saturday. The riders who have accumulated the most qualifying points since last year’s Toyota NHRA Sonoma Nationals have earned a berth in the Pro Bike Battle. It’s sure to add an additional layer of excitement to the lightning-quick Pro Stock Motorcycle action this weekend.

Kids-Only Pro Stock Motorcycle Autograph Session: 10 a.m. 
Kids ages 12 and under can get an autograph from the stars of the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle division at a kids-only autograph session on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Sunoco Victory Lane. This is a great chance for young fans to meet their favorite NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle rider! Wristband required.

Join Alan Reinhart and J.R. Todd at the NHRA Midway Display at 11:10 a.m. and get schooled on all your nitro knowledge.

Mello Yello Autograph Session 
Head over to the Mello Yello display at 11:40 a.m. to get an autograph from your favorite NHRA Mello Yello drag racers.

Jet Dragsters 
Two fire-breathing jet dragsters will light up following the final round of qualifying on Saturday evening!

SUNDAY 
Sonoma’s Starting Line Party and SealMaster Track Walk: 9:30 a.m.

 Join NHRA champions Jack Beckman, Tony “the Sarge” Schumacher, Jason Line, and LE Tonglet at a special pre-race Starting Line Party. Sonoma Raceway joins the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series’ “NHRA Salutes” program with this special event to bring fans close to these racing veterans, who have also served our country. Be part of the celebration and add Sonoma Raceway’s Starting Line Party to your ticket for just $20. Upgrades to your race-day ticket are available at the entrance to the track next to Sunoco Victory Lane.

Get the inside scoop with Alan Reinhart at 10 a.m. as he runs down the top stories of the weekend before the pre-race ceremony.

Top the Cops

11th Annual Eric Medlen Ice Cream Social 
Join us as we honor late Funny Car racer Eric Medlen after final-round eliminations. Fans are invited onto the race surface for a free scoop of ice cream. Fans are also encouraged to donate to Speedway Children’s Charities.

WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS 
8th Annual Nostalgia Get-Together
Make your way to the Nostalgia Get-Together in the main paddock garages and get up close to an incredible collection of vintage dragsters, hot rods, and more.

7th Annual Blast on the Grass 
Check out the Blast on the Grass Car Show featuring hot rods, muscles cars, rat rods, and exotics. This great display will be located at the Piccinini Plaza on the lawn behind the staging lanes. Don’t miss it!

Toyota Fan Zone
 Fans will be able to take in breathtaking views of the raceway and the surrounding hills of Sonoma on Toyota’s Ferris wheel and interact with the latest Toyota vehicles.

Great Clips Haircuts for Charity 
Stylists from local Great Clips salons will give haircuts all weekend for a suggested donation of just $10. All proceeds benefit Speedway Children’s Charities.

Sonoma Raceway Girls 
Be sure to stop and say hello to the popular Raceway Girls this weekend! Don’t miss your chance to have your picture taken with them!

Ticket Pit Stop/Speedway Children’s Charities Booth 
Stop by the Ticket Pit Stop, behind the main grandstand, to get answers to your questions, renew or upgrade your tickets, and get news about upcoming events. It’s also the site of the Speedway Children’s Charities booth where you can purchase $5 raffle tickets to enter the “Let’s Go Karting” charity raffle to win a full karting day for you and up to 20 family and friends.

Build-a-Racer 
Kids can build mini, gravity-powered race cars and compete against other kids who are just as excited about racing as they are at the Build-a-Racer booth! Sonoma Raceway encourages kids to take interest in the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as these are the key factors to a fast race car.

Kids Club Booth 
Stop by the Kids Club booth to collect your Toyota NHRA Sonoma Nationals souvenir poster and take a picture with the official mascot of the Sonoma Raceway Kids Club, Burnin’ Bovine. He loves to see all of his Kids Club members during race weekend!

CHP Designate a Sober Driver Booth 
Visit the California Highway Patrol Designate a Sober Driver booth in the main paddock to pledge to be the designated sober driver for your group. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
