Champions crowned at Jr. Eastern Conference Finals

Cade Poe picked up a record fifth Conference Finals/National Championships Wally to headline the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Eastern Conference Finals presented by Huddleston Performance at Bristol Dragway. Poe was joined by seven first-time individual champions and a first-time team champion.

Eastern Conference Finals champions

Cade Poe continued to add to his record as the winningest driver in the history of the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League’s National Championships/Conference Finals when he added a fifth Wally to his collection. Poe, who won four Western Conference Finals titles, made his first trip across country to the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Eastern Conference Finals presented by Huddleston Performance pay off when he outlasted the field in the 15-year-old age category. No other competitor in history has more than two wins in National Championships/Conference Finals competition. 

Poe was joined in the winner’s circle by seven first-time champions: Shawn Sanseverino (age 6-9), Brady Snack (10), Wyatt Palmatier (11), Savannah Bilton (12), Richie Fluck (13), Ashley Pumphrey (14), and Zach Lewis (16-17). FRIDAY

After a couple of time runs yesterday, Jr. racers are back on track at Bristol Dragway for the second day of action at the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Eastern Conference Finals presented by  Huddleston Performance. Today’s schedule features one more time runs ahead of the first round of eliminations this afternoon. Following today’s on-track activities, racers and their families will be treated to a cookout and special-awards ceremony.

JrECF.pngBRISTOL, Tenn. — The NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Eastern Conference Finals presented by Huddleston Performance will take place at Bristol Dragway Thursday through Saturday, July 20- 22. The event will feature more than 500 drivers, from 6-17 years old, in eight racing categories piloting half-scale dragsters powered by five-horsepower engines reaching speeds up to 85 mph, covering the eighth-mile track in as quick as 7.90 seconds. They will compete for team and individual honors and a share of the event purse. The event is one of two Conference Finals events in the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League.

Each of the 10 members of the team champion at the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Eastern Conference Finals event will receive the coveted NHRA Wally trophy. Individual champions will each earn $1,500, along with a NHRA Wally trophy and champion’s jacket.

Gates at Bristol Dragway open at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday. Participants in each category will receive two time-trial runs on Thursday, starting at 8 a.m. On Friday, they will all get one time-trial pass, starting at 8 a.m., to be followed by the first round of eliminations in each class, starting at 2 p.m. Eliminations in all age categories continue on Saturday at 9 a.m.
