E3 Spark Plugs named Pro Mod series sponsor; 2018 schedule announced

E3 Spark Plugs has been named the series sponsor for NHRA Pro Mod racing. The E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service will feature 12 races and a second visit to Texas during the year as well as a change to the qualifying procedures.

E3 Spark Plugs, an industry leader in spark plug technology, has been named the series sponsor for NHRA Pro Mod racing. The E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service will feature 12 races during the coming season and will feature a second visit to Texas during the year as well as a change to the qualifying procedures. 

The series will race at the Texas Motorplex, Oct. 4-7 during the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals in their 3,000 horsepower cars that include ’67 Mustangs, ’68 Firebirds and ’69 Camaros, as well as a variety of late model American muscle cars.

New for the coming season, the category will get four qualifying sessions and the first round of eliminations in their 16-car field taking place on Sunday. The teams will get two qualifying sessions on Friday and two on Saturday prior to race day.

The exciting season will come to life March 15-18, at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. at Gainesville Raceway. The next event will take place at the NHRA SpringNationals at Houston, April 20-22, and then will race four-wide at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway on April 27-29. 

The Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals presented by Minties at Heartland Park Topeka takes place May 18-20 prior to a stretch of three consecutive events.  

The action kicks off with the NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J., June 7-10. The NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals will follow during Father’s Day weekend, June 15-17, at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tenn. The busy month will conclude with the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, June 21-24, at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports in Norwalk, Ohio.

The doorslammer cars will be a major draw for race fans during the world’s biggest drag race the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, Aug. 29-Sept. 3. The series will race in the shadow of the Arch during the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals, at Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis, Sept. 21-23. 

Following the visit to Dallas the series returns to zMAX Dragway for the NHRA Carolina Nationals, Oct. 12-14.  The champion will be crowned at the NHRA Toyota Nationals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas on Oct. 25-28.

J&A Service will be designated as the presenting sponsor and the series is supported by the Real Pro Mod (RPM) Association, a group of NHRA Pro Mod Series team owners who works closely with NHRA on many initiatives to maintain and grow the series.
