Gaynor's double highlights Sportsman action at NHRA Northwest Nationals

In addition to the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series action at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals, 10 other champions were crowned in Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series action at Pacific Raceways, including Ty Gaynor, who won in both Super Stock and Top Dragster.

In addition to the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series action at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals, 10 other champions were crowned in Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series action at Pacific Raceways, including Ty Gaynor, who won in both Super Stock and Top Dragster.

Gaynor began his quest for a double with a win in Right Trailers Top Dragster. Gaynor topped Don Sefton in the final thanks to a .005 light and a 7.203 on his 7.18 prediction.

Gaynor finished off his historic double with a win over Brad Burton in the Super Stock final. Gaynor won with a 9.150 on his 9.14 dial as Burton was a runner-up in Stock and Super Stock.

Shawn Cowie bagged his 28th career Wally after a dominating performance in Top Alcohol Dragster that included a 5.206 to6.277 win against Joey Severance in the final round.

Doug Gordon now has 29 career wins following his final-round victory against Brian Hough in Top Alcohol Funny Car. Gordon drove his MB Cabinets entry to a 5.420 to seal the win.

After an even start, Ryan Warter pulled ahead to win the Comp title against Dustin Lee. Warter won with a (-.509) 8.501 to Lee’s (-424) 7.056.

Racing in his first final, Gary Gandee put on a stellar performance in Stock with a .001 light an a 14.108 against his 14.10 prediction that was too much for opponent Brad Burton to overcome.

Paul Nero, a past champ in Top Dragster, adapted well to the 8.90 class with a Super Comp title. Nero defeated Zach Meziere in a close double-breakout 8.876 to 8.874.

Cooper Chun continued his breakout season with a win in Super Gas. Chun won for the second time this season with a double-breakout win against Steve Lowe, 9.889 to 9.876.

Glenn, the brother of current Pro Stock champ Dallas Glenn, won his first national event in Super Street thanks to a .007 light and a 10.038 to stop Dustin Ward, the runner-up in last year’s Division 7 standings.

Top Right Trailers Top Sportsman final featured a pair of Top 10 drivers from last season including Bryan Warr who left first with a .006 light and won with a 6.758 on his 6.74 dial.
