Rain delay pauses action, but not the pursuit of speed in Thunder Valley
Rain may have temporarily slowed the action at the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, but it hasn't stopped the pursuit of speed in Bristol.
A fast-moving storm swept through Bristol Dragway on Sunday morning, bringing a brief weather delay to race-day eliminations. According to local weather reports, the system moved quickly through the area and conditions are already improving across Thunder Valley.
As soon as the rain cleared, NHRA's Safety Safari was on the racing surface, working to remove standing water and prepare the track for the return of competition. Crews continue to monitor conditions as the facility dries.
The delay comes after racers in Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock found impressive performance on Bristol's newly repaved racing surface throughout the opening rounds of eliminations.
Speed may be on hold for the moment, estimated till 2 pm E.T., but in Thunder Valley, weather can delay speed, but it can't stop it.
