Day two of qualifying for the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals is going to be a night-and-day experience from Friday's opening two passes. After a low-80-degree temperatures under bright sun on Friday, Saturday's forecast calls for a high of 71 under cloud cover.

Each of the three low qualifiers -- Jasmine Salinas in Top Fuel, Cruz Pedregon in Funny Car, and Dallas Glenn in Pro Stock -- said they did not expect their low E.T. numbers from the opening day to survive through the end of qualifying's final two sessions today.

All eyes will be on Salinas as she is on the verge of what would be her first No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel coming off of her first final-round appearance in Top Fuel last weekend in Sonoma. Her 3.79 pass was one of only two in the 3.70s, but a lot of teams behind her were stacked up close, so the top position and the first-round bye that goes with it for the 15-car field is very much up for grabs.

Pedregon has never won this race in his long history in the class and hasn't been to a final here in more than 20 years but the two-time world champion is hoping this is the year that turns out all around. His Snap-on Tools entry’s run in the heat of Q1 yesterday was impressive and led the field by several hundredths. Pedregon says he expects it to take a mid-3.80 to hold on to No. 1 through the end of today.

Provisional Pro Stock pole qualifier Glenn, who won this race at the home track he grew up at, is also expecting a big day today although he's not sure his car or any car can reach the wild 6.44-second pass he ran last year, a run that remains the second quickest in class history. Still the reigning world champ thinks he's going to have to improve on his Friday efforts to maintain the No. 1 spot.

Today's two qualifying sessions are also hosting the rounds of the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge featuring rematches of the semifinal battles from the Sonoma Nationals; those pairings are:
