Clay Millican, still looking for his first win with new crew chief Mike Kloeber, took the No. 1 spot in Top Fuel after the opening qualifying session with a 3.749 to lead a strong opening stanza.

Leah Pritchett sits second but a half-tenth back with a 3.793, just ahead of the 3.796 registered by Gainesville winner Richie Crampton.
Terry McMillen, who surprisingly failed to qualify at the last event on the tour in Atlanta, assured that won’t happen here with a solid off-the-trailer pass of 3.813 that sits fifth, right behind Doug Kalitta’s 3.801.
