Dave Grubnic

Dave Grubnic made the best run of anyone at stopping Steve Torrence from winning his first Top Fuel world championship in 2018. That was with Clay Millican, while opposing good friend and longtime tuner Richard Hogan, a fellow Montana resident. Grubnic left Millican's Parts Plus / Strutmaster team over the offseason to join the Advance Auto Parts team of Brittany Force.

So far, so good. John Kernan visited the Brownsburg, Ind. John Force Racing shop to catch up with Grubnic, who has helped tune 2017 world champion Force to a win (SpringNationals in Houston), two runner-ups and three pole positions in eight races. That's not enough to satisfy the deeply competitive Australian, a former Top Fuel dragster racer himself.

The team will be back on track at the Route 66 Nationals at the end of May in what's expected to be a loaded Top Fuel field. You can see all the action for yourself, including the Jeg's Allstars, by grabbing a ticket or subscribing to NHRA.tv.
