Terry Chandler has become a beloved member of the NHRA community thanks not only to her passion for the sport but also her big heart. The sister of longtime competitor Johnny Gray and aunt to current racers Shane and Jonathan Gray, Chandler combined her passions for racing and charity when she elected to fund the Don Schumacher Racing Funny Car previously driven by her brother and banner Make-A-Wish on the side of it beginning with the 2014 season. In its two seasons thus far, the Make-A-Wish team with driver Tommy Johnson Jr. has won three times and finished in the top three in points.

In 2015, Chandler expanded her philanthropic efforts by funding the Infinite Hero Funny Car driven by Jack Beckman. As she does with the Make-A-Wish car, Chandler pays for all expenses associated with the Infinite Hero car in support of the organization, which funds programs that help military heroes and their families. As part of the team’s fundraising efforts for Infinite Hero, Beckman carries challenge coins on every run that are sold to fans, the full proceeds of which benefit the Infinite Hero foundation. Last season, Beckman wheeled the Infinite Hero car to seven victories and two runner-up finishes, numerous national record runs, and a second-place finish in the points standings.

This is the first in a series of Heart of the NHRA videos, which will highlight charitable programs and people with big hearts in the sport.
