Although a major portion of the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals has been postponed, racing got under Thursday in seven Sportsman classes with qualifying and time trials. Reigning Top Sportsman presented by Vortech Superchargers world champ Sandy Wilkins is among the leaders.
What should have been a bustling day at Gainesville Raceway with Mello Yello teams prepping their machines for Friday's start of the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals turned to the surreal scene of empty pit areas and teams putting away their racecars and taking down their awnings after the event's postponement.
