National Dragster's Women of Power issue salutes legacy of NHRA female racers
NHRA National Dragster magazine kicks off its 2025 season with a very special issue saluting the female racers of the NHRA'a past, present, and future.
The Women of Power issue, graced with a wonderful cover photo of a large group of women featured in its pages, is packed with features about the unprecedented success of women in NHRA Drag Racing.
The National Dragster staff profiled more than 25 women who are making names for themselves in NHRA Drag Racing, sharing the stories and thoughts of their amazing careers and packed with great photos.
Erica Enders, Brittany Force, Leah Pruett, Angie Smith, Jasmine Salinas, Jianna Evaristo, Alexis DeJoria, Krista Baldwin, Ida Zetterström, Camrie Caruso, and Kelly Clontz represent the Professional racers of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, while Angelle Sampey, Julie Nataas, and Maddi Gordon discuss their Top Alcohol careers and their planned moves into Top Fuel in the next two seasons.
In an exclusive interview, Pruett, who was sidelined last season as she and her husband, Tony Stewart, started a family, talks about that and the reason behind her decision to also sit out 2025 and concentrate on a return to the wheel in 2026.
NHRA’s female Sportsman racers make up a large percentage of the 101 women who have reached the winner’s circle at an NHRA national event, and the issue takes a look at their careers and dreams with features on Allison Doll, Jackie Fricke, Lauren Freer, Allison McKoane, Brenda Grubbs, Annie Whiteley, Randi Lyn Butner, Lynsi Snyder, Kayla Mozeris, Brina Splingaire, Amanda Boicesco, Madison Payne, Shelby Williams, and Alison Prose. Columnist Brenda Grubbs adds to the list with her feature about Julie Biermann in her Travels With Brenda column.
The special section concludes with a trio of interesting features, including a complete tracking of all female milestones in the sport, an independent report that cites the reasons behind the success of women in the NHRA, and a behind-the-scenes look at outtakes from the cover shoot.
The first issue of the year also includes a news catchup, a voluminous recount of the major news stories that broke on and off the track during the offseason, a photo recap of the Performance Racing Industry trade show, and highlights of five of the seven division awards banquets, with the other two to follow in the next issue.
In his popular Science of Winning column, three-time world champion Luke Bogacki shares insight into what he learned last season after just missing a fourth crown, and Brian Lohnes, in line with the theme of the issue, shares the story of another pioneering woman from the sport’s history.
The issue concludes with the first in a series of articles about the history of the NHRA that led to its founding in 1951 and setting the stage for the sport that it has become and the 75th anniversary season ahead in 2026.
