Hot Rod's Drag Week gives hot rodders the ultimate street/strip challenge
Hot Rod Drag Week sees more than 350 street-legal cars and trucks drag race on five dragstrips over five days. Racers can enter any type of vehicle they want in nearly a dozen different classes, as long as their vehicle can pass a tech inspection and are registered and insured for operation on the street.
Since 2004, Hot Rod Drag Week has seen racers from all over the world compete on quarter-mile tracks from Lucas Oil Raceway to Beech Bend Raceway and Gateway Motorsports Park. The quickest and fastest vehicles are based on twin-turbo Pro Mod cars, which have run as quick as 5-second e.t.’s and at speeds of more the 250 mph. But for many racers the real test of Hot Rod Drag Week is not on the dragstrip, it’s on the street, as the race vehicles are required to drive under their own power from dragstrip to dragstrip. At the end of the week, the car with the quickest average e.t. from all five tracks is crowned the winner in each class.
