This week’s Night at the Museum feature spotlights the Candies & Hughes Funny Car driven by Mark Oswald in 1983. It was the team’s first Funny Car in their return to the after more than a decade in Top Fuel.

Mark Oswald, who drove the last Candies & Hughes dragster, also drove this car, starting in 1983. He would finish second in the points that year, and in 1984 he would win his only championship as a driver. The car was purchased from Gene Snow, who never raced it. Oswald called it “a good car,” and the results speak for themselves.

Oswald is still winning championships as the co-crew chief on the Antron Brown-driven Matco Top Fuel dragster. He and Brian Corradi along with Antron Brown clinched their third championship last weekend in Las Vegas.
