When a Top Fuel car bangs the blower it happens in an instant; all you see in real time is a flash, but in an instant numerous engine parts are damaged and because the car has lost power it throws the driver forward in his or her seat. That’s exactly what happened to Shawn Langdon in last week’s semifinals at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis.

While that explosion did a lot of damage to the engine the team had no trouble replacing all the damaged parts and the team went on to win the race.
