DSR seeks sponsors, donations for charity events

Don Schumacher Racing is preparing for its two annual major fund-raising events, the DSR Open House and Bowling for Riley charity bowling night, both of which benefit the Riley Children’s Foundation and Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health, and is looking for donations and sponsorships help from the racing community.
 
The 11th annual DSR Open House will take place Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the recently expanded DSR headquarters in Brownsburg, Ind. The event is a fun kick-off to the 62nd running of the prestigious Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at nearby Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.
 
This year’s Open House will honor NHRA’s yearlong salute to “50 Years of Funny Cars” with many of the earliest pioneers of the class, including Don Schumacher, who will participate in a special autograph and photo session during which all fans attending the free Open House will receive a commemorative autograph card featuring those drivers.
 
Regular Open House features include a silent auction, DSR driver appearances, one of central Indiana’s biggest indoor car shows, Cacklefest and a row of food trucks.
 
DSR is requesting items for its silent and live auctions to be held during the Open House. To donate items for auction please send to: DSR, Attention: Ted Yerzyk/Open House, 1681 E. The second event is the annual Bowling for Riley charity bowling night on Dec. 7, at Western Bowl in Indianapolis, less than 10 miles from downtown Indianapolis and the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show, Dec. 8-10. The bowling event features the opportunity to bowl with some of the biggest names in NHRA Mello Yello drag racing. DSR is looking for lane sponsors and bowling teams to participate in the evening. DSR has raised nearly $400,000 for Riley Kids over the past 11 years the Open House and Bowling for Riley events. More than 300,000 children visit Riley Children’s Hospital (www.rileykids.org) annually because of Riley’s ability to achieve excellence due to the large support from the community and generous financial support from partners.
