Seven rookie drivers representing the four NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series categories were announced by officials from NHRA and Automobile Club of Southern California as the eligible candidates for the 2017 Automobile Club of Southern California Road to the Future Award.

The 26th annual California Hot Rod Reunion presented by Automobile Club of Southern California wrapped up the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage series season at Auto Club Famoso Raceway. Jim Young won in Nostalgia Top Fuel, but runner-up Jim Murphy was crowned the Top Fuel champion by winning in the semifinals. Nostalgia Funny Car No. 1 qualifier Bobby Cottrell took home the event Wally while Ryan Hodgson won the championship.

Robin Samsel, Tony Bogolo, and Troy Galbraith led the list of winners as Gateway Motorsports Park hosted the annual All-American Hot Rod Showdown and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.

Todd Bruce, Doug Gordon, and Thomas Marlow all scored final-round victories Sunday evening during the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex.

Top Fuel points leader Steve Torrence emerged unhurt after a wild crash in a winning second-round race at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals with Richie Crampton. Torrence and team put together a backup car but fell in the semifinals.

Top Fuel points leader Steve Torrence tied a Texas Motorplex track record as he, Ron Capps (Funny Car), Bo Butner (Pro Stock), and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle) took the provisional poles at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals.

Chuck Parker collected the event victory in the Redemption series exhibition eliminator, which features a wide variety of no-prep-style cars, during Friday qualifying at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex. 

2013 Top Fuel champion Shawn Langdon will make the move to the Funny Car class for the 2018 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season. His current primary sponsor, Global Electronic Technology, will make the move with him and back his Toyota Camry Funny Car.
